Tourism development action planning
An evidence-led Tourism Development Action Plan supporting £60m of riverfront and walled-city regeneration.

As part of the £60m Central Riverfront and Walled City Tourism Regeneration Programme, CTConsults was commissioned to develop an evidence-led Tourism Development Action Plan. The programme sought to reconnect Derry's historic Walls, riverfront and new visitor attractions, creating a stronger and more sustainable destination offer.
CTConsults undertook a comprehensive assessment of Derry's phenomenal tourism potential, combining market analysis, stakeholder engagement and strategic review to understand the opportunities for responsible tourism, regeneration and economic growth. Working across the tourism, cultural and public sectors, we developed a shared evidence base that informed both the tourism strategy and wider regeneration planning.
The resulting action plan provided a phased, costed roadmap for delivery, identifying investment priorities, partnership opportunities and practical actions to strengthen the visitor economy. By embedding tourism within the city's long-term regeneration programme, the plan helped ensure investment in infrastructure was matched by investment in experiences, partnerships and destination development. Derry is now experiencing extraordinary growth in its visitor economy, with record-breaking visitor footfall.
