Loads to Do

The challenge

There are plenty of what’s on cultural listings sites in Manchester, hey we even run one – CreativeTourist.com – but there is nowhere that local residents can find out about activity happening in their own neighbourhood. So when Manchester City Council was looking for a partner to work with to solve this problem, we jumped at the chance.

Our response

Working with our web build partners Oh Digital, we created the new site – Loads to Do – which is built on our integrated online listings platform Culture Hosts. This means that it’s easy for partners to upload their content and it’s just as easy for anyone using the site to find out what’s happening on their doorstep, or in any of the 32 wards that make up the city of Manchester.

Kickstarting a new approach

Loadstodo.co.uk launched just in time for the summer holidays and is already receiving high traffic to the site. It will be a permanent hub for residents who wish to access the latest information about events and activities happening across Manchester.

So what does Culture Hosts do?

Culture Hosts captures information about events, venues, attractions, and local businesses within tourist hotspots and local authority regions. It can be used to centralise and share listings with websites or other applications, helping to make visitor destination listings much easier to manage and more accessible.

Locally, Culture Hosts feeds listings to CTConsults’ own consumer-facing website creativetourist.com which targets visitors to the North of England, and it also feeds cultural listings to visitmanchester.com, targeting national and international visitors to the city, as well as Manchester Wire, Our Pass and Oxford Road Corridor websites.

Crowded square in the evening. Large white teepee tent in the background, two storey hospitality area to the left, benched seating the right. Area decorated with red Chinese lanterns and festive lighting.
We all know Manchester is the best city in the universe to visit and hang out in, and whether you live here or are just passing through, 'Loads to Do' is the one-stop shop you've been waiting for. Opening up a world of possibilities and new experiences to people as they browse the ever-changing listings, the website is for anyone and everyone, young or old, who has time on their hands and is looking for something to do in our amazing and welcoming city.”
