Heritage tourism strategy
A heritage-led tourism strategy that helped Carrickfergus secure a transformational £34m investment.

Carrickfergus holds many keys to unlocking Northern Ireland's turbulent cultural heritage story. We led the creation of a heritage-led tourism strategy, with the town's famous Castle at its heart.
Before we developed the strategy, we had to make the case for it across the town, feeding into a wider masterplan, and supporting government investment planning. With well-documented community sensitivities, that's exactly where we started work. The project took an inclusive approach to address sensitivities and potential negativity.
Our work focused on creating a new brand framework to shift perceptions, build partnerships and generate new confidence to public and private sector investors within a masterplanning and regional investment context. Our place brand framework helped Carrickfergus secure a transformational £34m investment, including next generation interpretation and storytelling at the Castle.
