The challenge

Fáilte Ireland appointed CTConsults to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate options & opportunities, and make final costed recommendations on the optimum solution for the development of a National Online Distribution Strategy for Visitor Experiences, such as Attractions, Activities and Festivals & Events.

Examples of Activities include sightseeing tours, walking tours, land-based and water-based adventure and sporting activities etc. Examples of Attractions include Museums, Cultural and Historical Attractions, Heritage Centres etc. Examples of Festivals / Events include St Patrick’s Festival.

Our response

Working with TEAM Tourism Consulting, we reviewed existing technology solutions, online distribution solutions in other EU jurisdictions and best practice models internationally then consulted with internal and external (tourist industry) stakeholders to advise as to the options available, associated costs, and made a suite of recommendation(s) as to the optimum solution.

Kickstarting a new approach

The feasibility study delivered a suite of costed recommendations including an optimum recommendation for Fáilte Ireland to deliver a national solution to provide online booking solutions to its experience providers.

These took account of online cross-selling capabilities for the industry, the desirability for accommodation providers to combine things to see and do into their room inventory offering, and to facilitate distribution of these providers to visitors through third party websites, tourism agency websites and through our Tourist Information office network.
