We do this through working on projects – typically with destinations and their local or regional partners, rather than with individual organisations. With a number of significant project wins in 2021, we are now realising our ambition to build a unique cultural tourism digital transformation team.
We see this role as a natural next step for someone who has been working across a range of digital projects and services and has gained a demonstrable and robust understanding of digital marketing and client needs, who is ready to step up into a digital strategist/consultant role. You will, for example, have a strong understanding of analytics, how web projects work, CMS, SEO, UX etc, and will have worked on a variety of related projects, products and platforms, working effectively between technical experts and clients/end users.
Reporting into our Digital Director you will support and develop our extensive and growing digital / technical work portfolio and reputation – working directly with our clients and suppliers to develop, sell and deliver digital solutions.
Getting to know our clients and being familiar with their business objectives and practices will be important as the role is about progressing digital innovation and consultancy – helping us evolve our digital transformation models, platforms and tools, and working with existing and future culture, tourism and destination clients to explore, develop and deliver digital innovation and transformation projects.
You will support clients, suppliers and colleagues as they keep complex technical projects on track – bringing and sharing your knowledge and experience of having successfully managed and delivered your own technical projects (ideally agency side) – planning, troubleshooting, getting projects over the line with happy, well-informed clients. Typically, our clients need us to be able to provide strategic knowledge and guidance across a broad digital skill set including SEO, paid search & display, e-marketing / CRM, social, website and/or app information architecture, UX, design & development.
You will need to be passionate, curious and articulate about digital futures and direction – and have a strong interest in how to apply best practice, evidence, insight and innovative thinking to the ‘experience economy’ and the worlds of culture, tourism and travel – drawing on support sector insight, resilience, sustainable growth.
Much of the work will be project-focused, and so the activities that our digital strategist/consultant will undertake will never be entirely fixed as we never quite know what is round the next corner.
